The return of the Great Sunday Roast!
Every Sunday from 13th September 12 noon to 2.30pm
Welcome to our 14th Century pub serving traditional, award winning real ales from the Branscombe Vale Brewery and good old fashioned cooking!
There are not many pubs left like the Fountain. An open log fire, slate flags on the floor and home cooked food at prices that won't break the bank.
This is a place to enjoy some good conversation, to sup some ale, to relax. There are no juke boxes, pool tables or wide screen televisions. Just a very warm welcome and everything that pubs used to be.
We have a small cosy room (once an old forge) with its own log fire for lunch or dinner. It's best to reserve a table in advance if you want to eat here but many people take pot luck and eat at a table in the bar.
We have another room, just off the bar, where children are welcome. You can eat here as well if you wish.
Finally, yes, we have a car park, well behaved dogs are welcome,
yes there is a spring that gives the pub its name...and we fibbed about entertainment; we have darts, cribbage and dominoes and the occasional but very popular live band.
Come and experience this very English dream.
We are open 11am to 3pm and 6 pm to 11pm
except for Sunday when it's 12 noon ro 10.30pm
We serve food 12 to 2 and 6.30 to 9 every day exception Sundays when it is 12 noon to 2.30pm and 7 to 9 in the evening.
"The crab in our sandwiches tasted so deliciously fresh that it must have scuttled up from the beach only that morning"
Daily Telegraph, 8th March 2008.
"A 500 year old building nestling in a little valley, it has a log fire, a flagstone floor, a snug and welcome interior, ample outside space and truly sublime Branoc ale from the very local Branscombe Vale Brewery."
The Times. 9th May 2009.
